Inter Milan have concerns about the future of Newcastle United and Liverpool target Marcelo Brozovic with the Serie A champion yet to sign a new contract at the San Siro, according to Calciomercato.
Speaking before this week’s much-needed Champions League victory over Sheriff Tiraspol, CEO Beppe Marotta attempted to calm the growing doubts surrounding the future of one of Inter’s title-winning stars.
“The renewal issue is not a problem,” Moratta insisted.
“At Inter only the players who are happy to be with us must remain. Brozovic has expressed his intention to stay here.”
That may be the case but to suggest that everything is rosy in the San Siro garden would be to miss the point.
The fact remains that Brozovic, a free agent in July 2022, has not yet extended his deal and, come the New Year, he will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club.
While Inter still believe an agreement can be reached, the fact that Moratta was forced to speak out amid growing concerns tells its own story.

According to Inter Live, Premier League pacesetters Liverpool are prepared to offer Brozovic – a hard-working, versatile and tactically flexibile central midfielder in the Gini Wijnaldum mould – a £115,000-a-week deal at Anfield.
That is far more than the £56,000-a-week he currently takes home at Inter Milan.
You’d imagine that a substantial wage-hike would be heading Brozovic’s way if he was to put pen to paper with a newly-moneyed Newcastle United side too (Tuttosport).
Newcastle’s alleged interest will only increase the speculation regarding a potential swoop for Antonio Conte, the former Inter coach who insisted during their time together at the Giuseppe Meazza that Brozovic had everything in his locker to become a ‘world-class’ midfield player.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked, although managing director Fabio Paratici brought an end to those rumours recently when insisting that the Croatia international was ‘not even a topic’ for the North London club (Fabrizio Romano).
