Borussia Dortmund have made an enquiry about Martin Odegaard as the Arsenal loanee faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid, as reported by Defensa Central.

In our view at least, Odegaard and Dortmund feels like a match made in heaven.

This is BVB we’re talking about; a club famed for turning talented, technically gifted youngsters into some of the game’s most gifted attackers, from Jadon Sancho to Erling Haaland and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Robert Lewandowski.

And Odegaard, a twinkle-toed attacking midfielder with lungs the size of oil tankers, looks tailor-made for the famously high-octane Bundesliga.

According to DC, Dortmund have made their interest in the Norway international known, enquiring about Real’s plans for a man who, despite his obvious ability, doesn’t appear to have a defined role under Zinedine Zidane.

The 22-year-old is starting to make a real impact on loan at Arsenal, scoring his first goal for the London giants via a long-range rocket in last night’s 3-1 Europa League win at Olympiacos.

Tellingly, Real decided against including an option-to-buy clause in Odegaard’s Arsenal contract. Clearly they feel the former Sociedad loanee – arguably the most impressive attacking midfielder in La Liga last season – still has a bright future at the Bernabau.

Speaking in 2014 when he was a fresh-faced teenager pulling up trees back home at Stromsgodset, Odegaard admitted Jurgen Klopp had tried to lure him to Dortmund.

“Jurgen Klopp himself spoke to me. He told me what Dortmund thinks about me and what they can offer me,” Odegaard told BILD.

A lot has changed at Dortmund during the past seven years – but their admiration for Odegaard still burns brightly.
