According to reports from Spanish publication Marca, Espanyol are resigned to losing goalkeeper Pau Lopez and are currently eyeing up a replacement for the 21-year-old.

Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the market to sign a new goalkeeper as an understudy to number one choice Hugo Lloris and it has been widely claimed that the North London side have identified Espanyol star Pau Lopez as a target.

According to reports from Sky Sports, claims were made that Tottenham had placed multiple bids for Lopez but all of them were rejected by Espanyol.

In a further development yesterday, the London Evening Standard revealed that Spurs had placed an improved offer of around £450,000 to sign Lopez on a season long loan deal and the bid included an option of making the deal permanent for around £6 million.

However, the report added that Tottenham were not able to convince Espanyol to part with Lopez despite the improved offer on the table.

Following much frustration, there is finally some positive news for Tottenham in their hopes of signing Lopez as Spanish publication Marca have now gone on to claim that Espanyol are resigned to the fact that they will eventually lose Lopez.

Although no deal has been struck as of yet, Espanyol anticipate the departure of their star youngster to England and will allow the goalkeeper to leave once they complete the signing of a replacement.
