According to Goal, Manchester United are now closing in on a deal to sign Liverpool and Newcastle target Antony.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that Newcastle had made an approach for the Brazilian winger, who has just enjoyed a brilliant season with Ajax.
The 22-year-old scored 12 goals in 33 appearances, while also providing ten assists, which led to Jürgen Klopp shortlisting him as a target for Liverpool.
Now, however, it seems Erik ten Hag is nearing a reunion with the South American.

Goal believe the Red Devils are set to spend £51m on Antony, with the forward’s representatives already in Europe to discuss – and potentially conclude – a deal.
Manchester United are believed to be confident about convincing the Brazilian to join them, having just lured Ten Hag to Old Trafford from Amsterdam.

The Premier League giants also have a good relationship with Ajax, after successfully negotiating deals for Donny van de Beek and Daley Blind in the past.
Goal add that São Paulo are set to receive £13m from the deal, due to a 20% sell-on clause.
Liverpool & Newcastle fighting a losing battle against Manchester United
In our view, it was always going to be tough for Liverpool and Newcastle to beat Manchester United to the signing of Antony.
Despite their struggles, the Red Devils remain one of the biggest clubs on the planet, and with Ten Hag at the helm, the winger surely won’t need much time to adapt in a tactical sense, which may be a source of comfort for him.

Of course, Champions League football is on offer at Anfield, although Antony will have to compete with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz.
At Old Trafford, competitions for places is far less fierce, so you can see why the São Paulo-born attacker is keen on a move to Manchester United.
