Report: Erik Sviatchenko to be offered £1.5m Celtic exit by Copenhagen

Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko is set to be on the move during the January transfer window.

Erik Sviatchenko is set to be offered the chance to return to Denmark during the January transfer window, with the Daily Record reporting that Celtic are set to be offered a £1.5 million deal by Copenhagen.

The Daily Record reports that the 26-year-old is set to be allowed to leave Parkhead next month after Brendan Rodgers brought Marvin Compper in from RB Leipzig to seemingly push him even further down the pecking order.

And it appears that Copenhagen are ready to hand him the chance to return to his home country two years after he left Midtjylland for the Scottish Premiership, with the Daily Record reporting that the side – managed by former Wolves boss Stale Solbakken – are considering making a £1.5 million bid for the centre-back.

It certainly seems to make some sense for Sviatchenko to seek a new challenge in January as it does not appear that he is not in Rodgers’ plans, with the defender not playing for the Hoops in any competition since August. And while he has been injured in that time, he has been fit for some of the season.

And with Kristoffer Ajer now really starting to show why Ronny Deila wanted to bring him to the club before his departure, it would not be a surprise if Sviatchenko was keen on securing a move away once the window opens.

Celtic will be hoping to move 11 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership when they travel to Dens Park to face Dundee on Boxing Day.
