The Standard claim Oliver Skipp will be ruled out ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Burnley – despite Antonio Conte pushing his Tottenham medical department to give Skipp the all-clear for the trip to Turf Moor.
Skipp, 21, has been excellent for Tottenham this season – playing 28 times in all competitions for the North London side. But his last Premier League game came in a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, come on as a sub for 34 minutes.
A groin strain has since ruled him out of defeats against Southampton and Wolves – and then Saturday evening’s 3-2 win over Manchester City. Spurs have since used Rodrigo Bentancur, perhaps more than first expected.
The Uruguay star’s form has been good, shining against Manchester City. His willingness to get the ball forward is on show. Skipp is more defensive-minded. The Standard claim Conte wanted him involved at Burnley.
However, the report states that Conte has been disappointed in his bid to get Skipp fit for Wednesday night. His club’s medical department are being cautious after Skipp suffered an infection to his groin injury.

Against Manchester City, Conte rather bravely decided to play Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the middle of the park – dropping Harry Winks. It worked wonders, but he might shuffle his pack on Wednesday.
Indeed, Hojbjerg has not been at his best of late and there are videos of the Dane rejecting a hug with Conte after the full-time whistle against City. Winks could come in with Spurs likely to be on the front foot at Burnley.
