Former Arsenal talent Omari Hutchinson is already set to depart Chelsea on loan, with the Blues reportedly set to ship the winger out to a Championship club for the season.

According to TeamTalk, the 18-year-old English-born winger will join a club in the second-tier shortly after Chelsea signed Hutchinson from Arsenal, with the move being seen by many fans of the north London side as an odd decision by the club and the player.

Hutchinson was regarded as one of Arsenal’s most exciting young talents and a top contender to break into the first team next season with the Gunners back in the UEFA Europa League, a competition that has seen the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka make a name for themselves for the Premier League giants.

However, Hutchinson instead made the decision to join Chelsea, with the Blues now ready to loan out the Jamaica international for the season to an unnamed Championship side, a decision which will see the winger play senior football for the first time in his career.

Hutchinson was one of Arsenal’s best players at U-23 level last season, with the versatile attacker bagging eight goals and seven assists in all competitions for the Gunners, form which seemingly caught the attention of Chelsea as the Blues signed the teenager for an undisclosed fee.

Indeed, it is somewhat poetic that Hutchinson joins Chelsea to only go straight out on loan, with the west London side a club who have been criticised for their reliance on the loan system to ship players out on loan with very few actually ever going on to play for the senior team.

Sending Hutchinson out on loan could be the beginning of a disastrous Chelsea career

An U-23 player going from Arsenal to Chelsea with the hope of playing senior football is an odd decision, to say the least, and whilst the Blues have got better in recent years in promoting talents from the academy to the first team, there’s still a minute chance that Hutchinson will play a single minute for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

After all, Chelsea are stacked out on the wings, and whilst Hutchinson is an exciting player with big potential, there’s a good chance that this loan move could be the first of many the youngster goes out on as we have seen countless times to other once-talented and promising prospects from the west London side.
