Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre will start against Partick Thistle away from home at Firhill Stadium in the Scottish League Cup this afternoon, according to The Scottish Sun.

Brendan Rodgers’s side will take on Partick in the second round of the Scottish League Cup in a few hours’ time.

It has been reported that the 32-year-old left-back will start for the Hoops in place of Kieran Tierney, who is claimed to be injured.

According to The Scottish Sun, 21-year-old Scotland international left-back has a minor strain and missed Celtic’s training on Friday.

Disappointment

Tierney is one of the best young left-backs in Europe, and the 21-year-old will be a miss for Celtic against Thistle this afternoon.

Izaguirre, though, is a capable left-back who returned to Celtic in the summer transfer window on a free.

The 32-year-old, who left the Hoops in the summer of 2017, knows all about Scottish football, and he is more than capable of holding his own against Thistle at Firhill Stadium this afternoon.
