According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are set to hand Emile Smith Rowe a new contract to stay at the club for years to come.

Arsenal were struggling for creativity before Christmas, but Mikel Arteta decided to give a chance to Smith Rowe – and what a decision that has proven to be.

Smith Rowe has bagged three assists in a goal in his last six outings for Arsenal, and looks like he could be the answer to the Gunners’ creativity issues.

The 20-year-old’s deal expires in 2023, and Arsenal want to ‘remove any uncertainty’ by giving him a long-term deal this year.

Smith Rowe currently earns around £15,000-a-week, but could now match the £40,000-a-week deal Bukayo Saka has been given, almost trebling his wages.

Arsenal are thought to be confident that Smith Rowe will commit his future to the club rather than look to go elsewhere, with these new first-team opportunities surely appealing to the youngster.

Smith Rowe has long been backed for stardom, and Arsenal showed faith in him by rejecting RB Leipzig’s attempts to include a purchase clause in his 2019 loan move.

Keeping Smith Rowe well into his mid-20’s has to be the focus for Arsenal, and having been branded ‘exceptional’ by Arteta, it looks like Gunners fans can get used to him thriving in red and white.
