According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United defender Emil Krafth is now reconsidering a move to Istanbul Basaksehir – because Steve Bruce picked him on Monday night.
Krafth was a somewhat surprising selection as Bruce went with a 4-4-2 in the 3-0 defeat away at Arsenal.
The Swede started at right back, and that was just his fourth league start of the season having been down the pecking order at St James’ Park.
Basaksehir were willing to give Krafth an escape route, teeing up a £2.7million deal – a major loss on the £5million Newcastle paid for him in 2019.
Now though, Krafth is thought to be reconsidering the move, seemingly believing that he could now be in line for playing time at Newcastle.
If Krafth features against Aston Villa on Saturday, it may well be a sign that he is actually in the Newcastle plans after all, and the won’t have to leave for Turkey.
The 26-year-old hasn’t really impressed, but with DeAndre Yedlin’s future unclear and Jacob Murphy only suitable as a wing back rather than as a full back, Krafth could suddenly feature prominently.
Let’s see if Basaksehir are now willing to play a waiting game with Krafth, or whether they simply move on and look to another target who does want an immediate move.
