Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are joining Arsenal in the race to sign Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres this summer.
That is according to a report from TalkSPORT, who claim that Arsenal and Villa are both tracking Torres.
It’s suggested that Torres may be sold this summer in order to raise crucial funds for incoming summer signing at Barca.
Lionel Messi is just one player Barcelona want to sign – and that deal won’t be cheap.
Add in other business and a player like Torres may well need to be sold.
The report claims that Mikel Arteta wants Torres having worked with him at Manchester City.
However, their paths never actually crossed; Arteta left City for Arsenal in December 2019 and Torres joined City in the summer of 2020.
Still, Arteta will be well aware of the ability Torres possesses and can certainly call upon former mentor Pep Guardiola for a second opinion.
Guardiola did sell Torres to Barcelona for around £55million last January but always liked him at City.
Torres scored 16 goals in 43 games for City and offers a versatile attacking threat.
Capable of playing up front or on either flank, Torres can be utilised across the frontline and still has bags of potential at 23.

Mateu Alemany is a key factor as Aston Villa chase Ferran Torres
Villa appear to mean business under Unai Emery and are ready to attack the summer transfer window.
We should expect to see some big deals at Villa Park with Emery turning his side into real European contenders.
Emery will be aware of Torres’ ability, but it’s important to highlight Mateu Alemany too.
Alemany is the current director of football at Barcelona but is set to make a stunning move to Villa Park.
Alemany is set to play a huge role in transfers at Villa and he will know plenty about Torres from his current role.
Emery would no doubt love to get one over on Arsenal by signing Torres – and signing him would show just how serious Villa are becoming under Emery.
