Newcastle United are strongly linked with a move for Florian Lejeune.
Newcastle United have been heavily linked with a move for French defender Florian Lejeune this summer.
According to reports from the Chronicle, the Frenchman’s transfer to Newcastle is very close to being completed, but the Magpies are yet to make an official confirmation.
However, Eibar’s sporting director, Fran Garagarza, has reiterated that they are about to lose their star player this summer. He has gone public to reveal that the deal could be announced very soon.

“Right now all the roads point to England. The English are showing their interest and we fear that it will not continue with us,” said Garagarza, as quoted by The Chronicle.
The 26-year-old defender made 34 La Liga appearances last season, and scored one goal for the club.
Eibar expect Newcastle to trigger the €10 million (£8.79m) release clause in the centre-back’s contract soon, and the negotiation has been underway.
The Chronicle claimed last week that the French defender has told his friends that he will move to England to play for Newcastle.
Meanwhile, The Chronicle claims that Newcastle have plans to make at least eight new signings, but manager Rafael Benitez first needs to trim his squad.
Lejeune is a good defender who will add depth and quality to the Newcastle squad.
