Liverpool fans are desperate to see Michael Edwards and Jurgen Klopp welcome some centre-backs into the club in January.
As of right now, Klopp hasn’t got any of his senior options fit.
Virgil van Dijk is out for the season, Joe Gomez is out for the foreseeable future and Joel Matip is reportedly out of tomorrow’s visit of Tottenham Hotspur.
It’s a desperate situation for the reigning Premier League champions, but it looks like Edwards might be convinced to bolster that position.
According to The Sunday World, Matip’s latest back injury is enough reason to dip into the transfer market.
Liverpool were reluctant to sign any defenders next month, but Edwards and the club have now had a ‘change of heart’, the report adds.
Matip has a pretty poor history in regards to stayng fit over the past 18 months or so and if the Reds are depending on him being available during the second half of the season, it’s a real problem.
Fabinho, a midfielder, is likely to continue in defence against Spurs but it remains to be seen who Klopp chooses as his partner.
The fact it could very well be Jordan Henderson is evidence enough that Edwards needs centre-backs.
