If rumours are believed, Mesut Ozil hasn’t given up on his Arsenal career just yet.

The former Germany international looks to have one foot out the door at the Emirates Stadium.

Ozil hasn’t kicked a ball for Arsenal in a competitive game since March and after Mikel Arteta left him out of his Europa League and Premier League squads, it seemed like it spelled the end for the 32-year-old in North London.

With January only a few weeks away, the Gunners might have the chance to offload the frozen-out playmaker for a fee, six months before his contract officially ends.

According to ESPN, this is what Arsenal’s hierarchy wants, to move him out in next month’s transfer window.

But the report has added that Ozil is still training with Mikel Arteta’s senior side on a daily basis in the hope that the Spanish manager changes his mind and brings him back for the second half of this season.

Do Arsenal need him?

If Edu and Arteta can’t offload him in January, then yes he absolutely must be brought back into the Premier League squad.

Arsenal have scored 10 goals in 11 games in that competition this season and are bottom of the table in terms of created chances.

Arteta’s side are absolutely crying out for a playmaker – any playmaker – and when you have quite a good one already there, it makes complete sense.
