Report: Edu wanted West Ham’s Felipe Anderson at Arsenal, loan attempt has failed

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal have shown an interest in signing West Ham United playmaker Felipe Anderson.

It’s claimed that Arsenal wanted to take Anderson on loan, and his former club Lazio wanted a similar deal.

However, West Ham are only willing to let Anderson go for a fee, with a loan exit seemingly being ruled out.

Arsenal’s technical director Edu knew Anderson from his time working with the Brazilian national team, and allegedly wanted a reunion.

It’s now unlikely that Arsenal will end up signing Anderson, with Willian signed up and Dani Ceballos targeted for a return.

Anderson cost West Ham around £35million rising to £42million just two years ago, and it’s hard to see Arsenal having the capability to offer anything close to that.

The 27-year-old has shown his quality in fits and starts at West Ham, but started just once when the Premier League returned from lockdown.

David Moyes doesn’t appear to be a huge fan of Anderson, who can play on the left flank or as a number 10, so Arsenal may keep tabs on his situation, but their loan attempt won’t work.
