According to L’Equipe and Get French Football News, Lyon have rejected a proposed swap bid from Arsenal involving Matteo Guendouzi for Houssem Aouar.
It’s claimed that Manchester City have been tracking Aouar for 18 months, but have yet to actually approach Lyon about a deal.
That has given Mikel Arteta and co the chance to try and swoop in for Aouar, with the Arsenal boss believed to be a big fan.
Technical director Edu contacted Lyon, offering them cash plus Guendouzi for Aouar – but Lyon have rejected the proposal.
They allegedly think that they don’t need another midfielder even if Aouar leaves, so have no interest in taking Guendouzi right now.
Arsenal are looking for a creative midfield player, and Aouar could well be that man – but Lyon only want straight cash.

The 22-year-old has racked up nine goals and eight assists for Lyon this season, continuing to show great creativity in the Lyon engine room.
Arsenal are seemingly desperate to offload Guendouzi after he fell out of Arteta’s plans, but their cheeky swap attempt has seemingly failed.
