Arsenal technical director Edu Gaspar is reportedly looking to replicate the success of William Saliba’s loan move last season with Marquinhos, who joined from Brazil earlier in the summer transfer window.
According to the Mirror, the Gunners transfer chief is plotting to loan out the teenage attacker for the season in an attempt to boost his development, with Saliba’s incredible progress with Olympique Marseille the basis of Edu’s masterstroke plan to get the winger caught up to speed.
Saliba joined Arsenal for a reported £27m in 2019 yet only now looks ready to become a member of the senior squad, with the French defender featuring heavily for the Gunners in pre-season and impressing supporters with his dominating performances from the back alongside Gabriel Magalhaes.
Whilst Marquinhos has also had chances to impress in pre-season, it appears that the former Sao Paulo talent will be sent out on loan to gain some much-needed first-team experience in Europe, with Arsenal seemingly hopeful that they can find a club that unlock the attacker’s true potential over the next 12 months.
Indeed, Arsenal struck gold with Marseille last season with Saliba, and the Gunners will no doubt be searching high and wide for the perfect club to send Marquinhos off to for the upcoming campaign, with the winger tipped by many to become a superstar for the Premier League giants.
The forward might share some similarities to Arsenal superstar Gabriel Martillei, who famously was plucked from obscurity in Brazil and impressed in England within months of arriving from South America, however, early signs suggest that Marquinhos is a different case, and a loan could be the best decision for the teenager.
Arsenal should be looking to wrap up Marquinhos loan move soon

Whilst no club is yet to be identified, Arsenal should be looking to send Marquinhos out for the season sooner rather than later, with the number of pre-season dates slowly fading for many top sides across Europe, with these days valuable to integrating into a new side.
As we know, Marquinhos is another huge Edu is making, and whilst Saliba’s success with Marseille is an encouraging sign, Arsenal have to be certain that the loan club they send the teenager to is the perfect one for his development, even more so given how important the next 12 months are for the South American talent.
