Arsenal’s reported interest in Philippe Coutinho looks set to be revived, according to a report.
The former Liverpool playmaker was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium quite a bit in recent months, but then the trail went a little cold.
With that, it was assumed that Coutinho to Arsenal wasn’t going to happen but, according to a new report, it might be back on.
Mundo Deportivo in Spain has reported that a move to the Gunners is now ‘more possible’ than it was a few months ago.
And the report adds that Arsenal’s technical director has personally endorsed a prospective deal for the £80 million-rated Barcelona star, whom the Spanish club would prefer to sell.
What a blockbuster deal this would be for Mikel Arteta. Then again, don’t be fooled because this one probably isn’t going to happen, even if Edu has recommended him.
That’s because finances are right at Arsenal and there’s just no way they could afford to break their transfer record on the 28-year-old.
Even if Barcelona halved their reported valuation, £40 million might still be too much in this climate and therefore a switch to North London probably won’t materialise.
