According to The Athletic, Arsenal’s technical director Edu has been in talks over a deal for Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard since last week.

It’s claimed that Arsenal are now one of the strongest contenders to sign Odegaard, but Real Sociedad are a major challenger.

The lines of communication with Real Madrid are strong having already taken Dani Ceballos on loan from them, meaning Edu will have real hope of pulling off a deal.

Odegarrd loves Sociedad though; he spent last season on loan there, hitting seven goals and nine assists for them before heading back to Real.

Odegaard has only managed 232 minutes of league action this season, and it seems that he now wants to go out on loan again in search of playing time.

The 22-year-old has shown real quality as a number 10, and the idea would be for Arsenal to take him on loan as competition for Emile Smith Rowe.

Odegaard will allegedly decide his next move soon, with Arsenal and Sociedad seemingly he leading contenders to take him for the rest of the season.

Does the Norwegian challenge himself in the Premier League or go back to Sociedad, where he knows he can thrive? It won’t be an easy call for the former wonderkid, who needs playing time at this stage in his career.
