David Luiz could face the exit door at Arsenal this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Luiz has played a key role under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium, and the Arsenal boss is said to be ‘desperate’ for the Brazilian to stay.

However, with Arsenal making cut backs, it could be that Luiz leaves.

Luiz only has months left on his current deal at Arsenal, and it is claimed that no contract talks are planned.

Even though Edu would like to keep Luiz around, his high wages may mean that Arsenal have to let him go, in a bid to cut costs.

Luiz hasn’t fully convinced in his first season in North London, but he has been talked up as a very good mentor to Arsenal’s young players.

The Gunners’ options are already short at the back, so losing Luiz could be a tough blow for Arteta.

The Spaniard is thought to be wanting to strengthen in defence in the transfer window, so to lose his most experienced centre-back would be a disappointing start to Arsenal’s summer dealings.

The report will also spark fears that Arsenal could be forced to make major changes to their squad next term.

Mesut Ozil, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are also linked with moves away from the North London side, who are seemingly intent on reducing their wage bill.
