Aston Villa may still need a striker if Tammy Abraham moves on.

According to Football.London, Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is being touted as a possible Aston Villa signing – but the Gunners are blocking his exit.

Nketiah, 19, has been coming up through the Arsenal ranks having left Chelsea back in 2015, showing real promise at the Emirates Stadium.

An England Under-21 international, Nketiah looks set for a huge future but hasn’t received much playing time this season; just one minute in the Premier League and five first-team appearances in total.

Now, Football.London report that Aston Villa may hold an interest in taking Nketiah on loan, but Arsenal are blocking any exit as they want to keep the teenager in North London for the rest of the season.

Villa have seen Tammy Abraham reject a loan move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in order to continue his loan at Villa Park, but they aren’t out of the woods just yet.

The Daily Mail note that whilst Abraham doesn’t want a loan move this month, he would be interested in a permanent move to another club if Chelsea will sell him.

Villa therefore need to think about potential replacements if Abraham does end up moving on, and Nketiah appears to be a player on that list.

However, with Arsenal reluctant to do a deal, Dean Smith and co may find that Nketiah simply isn’t obtainable during this month’s transfer window.
