According to the Daily Mail, Joe Willock played all 90 minutes for Newcastle in their 5-1 defeat to Tottenham while carrying a knee injury.
What’s the story?
Well, if true, this is pretty irresponsible of Eddie Howe.
The Daily Mail believe Willock could now miss Friday’s clash with Wolves due to the knee issue, which he worsened against Spurs.
Willock will be assessed over the next 24 hours before a decision is made.
The 22-year-old struggled against the north Londoners on Sunday, and it’s now clear why he found life so tough in N17 last weekend.
Hopefully, Willock hasn’t done any significant damage to his knee, which, in our view, should’ve been rested for the trip to Tottenham.
Now, the Magpies could be without a key player for a few weeks, with Premier League survival yet to be secured.
Joe Willock deserves credit at Newcastle

Unfortunately for Willock, he was left in a difficult position ahead of kick-off.
Joelinton – who has been transformed into a midfielder – was forced to withdraw through illness, so Howe chose to call on the ex-Arsenal man, who could’ve easily withdrawn from contention himself.
However, Willock decided to knuckle down and put his body on the line for his team.

In our view, however, that wasn’t at all necessary.
Howe had Bruno Guimaraes on the bench, and the Brazilian should’ve been the one to slot in, while Willock rested on the sidelines.
Hopefully, Willock hasn’t done too much damage to his knee, and he will be back in action soon.
