According to the Daily Record, Eddie Howe held talks with Celtic on Monday as a move to Parkhead draws ever closer.
Howe has seemingly been Celtic’s top target for almost two months, having held initial talks about replacing Neil Lennon – who resigned back in February.
Celtic’s managerial saga has really dragged on, but their patience over Howe may be about to pay off as a deal looks to be near.
Howe allegedly spoke to Celtic on Monday, and told the club to make moves for three Bournemouth men – coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone as well as talent spotter Richard Hughes.
Hughes would become head scout rather than director of football, and with Bournemouth’s promotion hopes over, Celtic are free to move for the trio.
Howe seemingly wouldn’t have been quite as keen on the job without having his preferred staff with him, and he’s also moving for an ex-Celtic man.
It’s stated that Howe has already spoken to Peter Grant about a return to Parkhead having been a Celtic favourite in his playing days.
Grant left his position as Alloa Athletic boss earlier this year, but having played with Howe at Bournemouth, a reunion at Celtic seems to make perfect sense.
Grant knows Celtic inside out, and having that knowledge to help Howe adjust to life at Parkhead whilst already knowing each other seems ideal.
Howe has been branded ‘fantastic’ by Harry Redknapp, and with that kind of backing, Celtic fans must be pretty excited as a deal for him seemingly draws closer.
