Everton are interested in signing Wout Weghorst with the striker looking unlikely to return to Manchester United.
Everton boss Sean Dyche could reunite with striker Wout Weghorst at Goodison Park this summer.
That is according to TalkSPORT, who claim that Everton are now looking to sign Weghorst.
It’s stated that United have no plans to sign Weghorst permanently as his loan stay comes to an end.
That leaves Weghorst’s future up in the air given that parent club Burnley are unlikely to reintegrate him into Vincent Kompany’s side.
Maybe Besiktas – where Kompany featured on loan in the first half of the season – will take Weghorst back.
Everton are emerging as another option though as they desperately attempt to sign another striker.
Neal Maupay struggled this season and could leave whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to suffer injury problems.
Adding another goal threat is a top priority for Everton and Weghorst could be their man.

Sean Dyche knows Wout Weghorst well
A driving force in this pursuit could be Everton boss Sean Dyche.
Dyche was in charge of Burnley when they pounced to sign Weghorst from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in January 2022.
The Dutchman arrived with a strong reputation having bagged 70 goals in 144 games in Germany.
Dyche called Weghorst a ‘very good player’ before Everton faced Manchester United in April and may think he can get the best out of him.
Yet Weghorst’s record under Dyche isn’t all that impressive.
The giant striker didn’t really settle at Burnley and scored just once in 12 games under Dyche.
Weghorst’s record at United wasn’t much better and there are serious doubts over his goalscoring ability in the Premier League.
Whilst this move may not break the bank for Everton, Dyche would be putting a lot of faith in Weghorst finding his shooting boots again.
