Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle is set to sign for Newcastle.
Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle celebrates scoring
According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle will undergo a medical with Newcastle United ahead of a £10m move to St. James’ Park.
The Magpies made their first signing of the summer earlier today, as Belgian international goalkeeper Matz Sels joined the club from Gent – and now, Rafael Benitez appears to be turning his attention to a new striker.

Benitez does have Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic at his disposal, but with Seydou Doumbia’s loan spell over and question marks over the future of Papiss Cisse, Dwight Gayle appears to be heading to Tyneside.
Sky Sports report that Gayle is travelling up to St. James’ Park to undergo a medical with Newcastle, with the Magpies agreeing a fee of around £10m with Crystal Palace.

Gayle, 25, started just eight Premier League games last season, and now looks set to leave Alan Pardew’s men for a move to the North East.
Known for his pace, striker Gayle has hit 25 goals in 74 games for Palace since signing from Peterborough United in 2013, where his record of 13 goals in 29 games in the Championship may have convinced Newcastle to make Gayle their leading striker next season.

A former non-league striker, Gayle has allegedly agreed personal terms with Newcastle and is now completing a medical to rubber-stamp his move to join Newcastle.
With additional firepower in the ranks with Gayle’s imminent arrival, Benitez is building a promotion-challenging squad – and there may be more to come yet.
