Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is reportedly ready to let Dwight Gayle leave St James’ Park this summer.
According to a report from The Sun, Dwight Gayle is set to leave Newcastle this summer, with the Magpies holding out for a £15 million fee for the striker as they look for a late boost to their transfer kitty.
Gayle’s future had been up in the air since his return from an impressive loan at West Brom last season. He scored 24 goals in 40 league appearances as the Baggies reached the Championship play-off semi-final.
That form may have left some wondering whether he may get another chance at St James’ Park, particularly after Rafa Benitez’s departure, but it appears that that will not be the case.
The Sun reports that Gayle is still set to leave Tyneside before the summer window closes, with Newcastle keen to secure a fee of around £15 million for the 28-year-old, who scored six goals during the Magpies’ first campaign back in the Premier League.

Steve Bruce may be willing to let Gayle go, but it looks set to be easier said than done to get £15 million for the striker. He has established himself as a brilliant goalscorer at Championship level, but is yet to really prove himself in the top flight.
And while there will be plenty of second tier sides who see buying Gayle as a sound investment as he is likely to ensure that the club finds itself in the promotion mix, spending £15 million on one player is still a major roll of the dice. So perhaps Newcastle may not have the easiest time making sure that they offload the forward this summer.
