According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle is ‘frustrated’ at St James’ Park ahead of a big contract decision.
It’s claimed that Gayle is fed up of his lack of game time with Newcastle, and it would now take a ‘good offer’ for him to stay put.
The 31-year-old hasn’t started a single Premier League game this season, and his seven substitute appearances have totalled just 97 minutes of action.
Gayle is inside the final stages of his Newcastle contract, meaning he will be able to leave for free at the end of the season.
Signed for £10million from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2016, Gayle has found first-team football hard to come by in recent times, and a parting of the ways may be best for all.
Fulham have a long-standing interest in Gayle, whilst a lucrative offer from a club in the Middle East could land on his desk.
Steve Bruce told The Mirror in December that he wanted to do ‘everything’ to keep Gayle on Tyneside, but now faces losing him for absolutely nothing.
Gayle needs playing time and it clearly isn’t going to come at Newcastle, so Bruce’s hopes of keeping him could be dwindling fast.
