According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have taken young goalkeeper Nick Weegink on trial as they look to beat English rivals to his signature.
Spurs have recently tied up a deal for Finnish midfielder Maximus Tainio, with the teenager – whose father is ex-Tottenham ace Teemu Tainio – joining up at the end of the season from HJK Helsinki.
However, it seems that Spurs are also keen to bring in more young talent, with manager Mauricio Pochettino becoming known his superb work developing youngsters at White Hart Lane.
The Daily Mail now report that Tottenham are looking at a new goalkeeper, with Dutch stopper Nick Weegink joining the club for a trial spell this week.
The 15-year-old will allegedly spend a week at White Hart Lane as he bids to win a contract, and Tottenham will be hoping to fend off interest in his signature.
It’s claimed that, after former Ipswich Town and West Bromwich Albion midfielder Romeo Zondervan sent footage of Weegink in action, a host of English sides are keen – but Tottenham have made the first move.
Formerly of FC Twente, Weegink now represents the youth team of Dutch minnows ATC ’65, with the teenager no doubt hoping to win a shock move to England.
Tottenham have three first-team goalkeepers on the books in Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm and Pau Lopez, but there could be changes further down the ranks.
Luke McGee is on loan at Peterborough United and could leave permanently, whilst the likes of Thomas Glover, Thomas McDermott, Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin are all on the books, but Jonathan De Bie recently suffered a serious injury, meaning there could be a spot for Weegink to win a contract.
