Rangers chairman Douglas Park is supportive of manager Steven Gerrard’s stance of not selling Ryan Kent to Leeds United, according to The Scotsman.

Leeds, who have won automatic promotion to the Premier League for next season, will make a second bid of £14 million for Kent this week after their initial offer was turned down by Rangers, according to the report.

It has been added that the 23-year-old winger wants to stay at Rangers and manager Gerrard does not want to sell him.

Rangers chairman Park and his fellow directors are also supportive of Gerrard’s stance on the former Liverpool winger, according to the report.

Sensible stance

Leeds are a big club and could offer more than £14 million if their reported second bid is turned down, but Rangers should resist the temptation to cash in on Kent now.

Rangers have made a strong start to the season and are aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title.

Kent will play a key role in that quest, and if Rangers are successful, then they would get a lot of offers – and better ones – for the winger next summer.
