Gretar Steinsson’s influence at Tottenham Hotspur is currently unclear after the ban handed out to director of football Fabio Paratici.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who suggest that Steinsson would hope to offer his opinion on Tottenham’s managerial search.
However, it’s claimed that there are doubts over just how much influence Steinsson will actually have at Spurs.
Paratici’s ban from Italian football has now been extended worldwide, meaning he can’t actually conduct his Tottenham role.
Some believe Paratici will end up leaving Tottenham in the near future and performance director Steinsson is technically the next man up.
However, this report suggests that Daniel Levy will lean on operations and finance director Matthew Collecott as well as executive director Donna Cullen for advice.
That may mean that Steinsson has little power here, which will be something of a blow to the Icelander.

Some Premier League fans may not even be aware that Steinsson is currently at Tottenham.
Supporters may remember Steinsson from his playing days having played in the Premier League for Bolton Wanderers.
A right back for the Trotters, Steinsson finished his career in Turkey with Kayserispor back in 2013.
Steinsson returned to AZ Alkmaar in 2014 to start his recruitment journey but left to become Fleetwood Town’s technical director in 2015.
Marcel Brands – who signed Steinsson at AZ – pounced to strike a reunion at Everton in 2018, with Steinsson becoming a scout and later chief scout.
When Brands left Everton midway through last season, Steinsson followed and had a few months out of the game before joining Tottenham last summer.
Now Tottenham’s performance director, Steinsson is effectively Paratici’s right-hand man.
The 41-year-old would be forgiven for thinking he may have been allowed to take on more responsibility in Paratici’s absence.
Instead, it looks like Steinsson will be taking a back seat as Tottenham attempt to wade through this chaotic period.
