Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico is interested in joining Arsenal this summer in what could be a £20 million deal, according to the Sun.

If you want a typically modern-day full-back who is equally useful in the final third as he is in the defensive one, look no further than a diminutive Argentina international who helped Ajax seal the Eredivisie-KNVB Cup double last season.

Tagliafico has been a reliable source of goals since moving to Holland from Estudiantes, contributing five strikes and seven assists to the cause in the now-curtailed 2019/20 campaign.

The 27-year-old seems to have a habit of popping up in the six-yard box like a seasoned penalty-area poacher. But it his boundless energy and love of a crunching tackle that will have Arsenal casting their eyes in his direction.

The Sun claims that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are keen on the £20 million-rated South American, with Tagliafico’s potential arrival opening the door for teen sensation Bukayo Saka to revert to his favoured left-wing position.

What’s more, the 2019 Champions League semi-finalist would jump at the chance to swap one red and white kit for another, with Tagliafico intrigued by the prospect of establishing himself as one of Europe’s top full-backs at the Emirates.
