Lucas Torreira will hold talks about a permanent move away from Arsenal in the next few days, with Tuttosport claiming that wants to bring an end to a disappointing loan spell at Atletico Madrid.

If the Uruguay international felt that a move from the English capital to the Spanish one would see him receive the regular first-team football he was crying out for, Torreira has been sadly mistaken.

The £26 million battler has started just two La Liga games so far under Diego Simeone.

His tally of minutes in the Champions League group-stages, however, stands at a miserly 31.

Tuttosport reported a few weeks ago that Torreira felt ‘dissatisfied’ in Madrid and wanted to bring an end to his loan spell in January.

Meanwhile, long-time admirers Torino are once again expressing their interest in a former Sampdoria ace who’s camp have never hid a desire to return to Italy at some point in the future.

Tuttosport now backs up those claims today, adding that the £75,000-a-week Torreira will hold talks with Arsenal over the coming days to inform the Premier League giants of his desire to leave on a permanent basis.

Atleti boss Simeone has been effusive in his praise of Torreira, particularly after the 24-year-old scored the clinching goal in October’s 3-1 victory over Osasuna.

But despite the departure of Thomas Partey (to Arsenal ironically), the South American has still failed to nail down a regular starting berth at the Wanda Metropolitano.

He has fallen even further down the pecking order since Geoffrey Kondogbia arrived from Valencia.
