The Tottenham Hotspur star has been practically ever present for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season.

Dele Alli wast rested by Mauricio Pochettino for Tottenham’s clash with Brighton and Hove Albion last night, according to Football.London, and was not omitted from the squad due to any kind of injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Manchester United.

The Argentine rung the changes for his side’s clash with the Seagulls, with Dele and Davinson Sanchez both left out of the travelling party all together – a move that led to some concerned comments from Tottenham fans.

There is no need to worry, though, according to Football.London, who claim that the 22-year-old was left out of the Liywhites’ squad purely in an effort to give him a rest.

The former MK Dons man has already made 229 club appearances – a quite remarkable tally for someone so young, so Pochettino’s decision to rest him ahead of what will be a vital run-in for Tottenham could prove to be an extremely astute one.

Dele has been in fine form for Spurs this season, despite receiving criticism from some sections of the media, and has chalked up 12 goals and 17 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions thus far.

The England international will surely have a huge part to play for his side over the final month of their campaign, and resting him for the Brighton clash could turn out to be a masterstroke from Pochettino.
