Pierre-Michel Lasogga was absent from the Leeds United squad for their Championship clash with Middlesbrough.

Lasogga has endured a turbulent time since arriving on loan from Hamburg in the summer. His strike-rate of five goals in 10 league games looks impressive, but some of his performances have been criticised by the supporters, especially with the Whites’ form a lot more underwhelming in recent weeks.

The German’s work-rate has been questioned, while some have also suggested that he does not use his physical stature as well as he should when it comes to duelling with defenders.
Nevertheless, it may have been a surprise to many when he was left out of the Leeds side for their home clash with Boro on Sunday – with Kemar Roofe selected up front, while Jay-Roy Grot and Caleb Ekuban were picked on the bench.

It will undoubtedly be an excellent opportunity for Roofe, and potentially Ekuban and Grot to make an impression and put pressure on Lasogga when he returns to full fitness, especially as a win following their recent form would provide a huge lift ahead of the Christmas period.
