A report in the Daily Mirror has suggested that Tottenham are optimistic that Harry Kane could be back playing by the middle of next month despite initial fears suggesting that he may be out for considerably longer.

Kane has not played for Spurs since limping out of the early stages of their FA Cup victory over Millwall after damaging his ankle ligaments (via Mirror), missing the narrow win over Southampton before the international break.

And while the Mirror suggests that Tottenham were expecting to have their talisman back just in time for the final handful of games this season, it appears that the home game against Bournemouth may now be when Spurs hope to have the striker back for.

The news would undoubtedly be a major boost to Mauricio Pochettino’s men as, if Kane comes through that game unscathed, that would leave the England star in contention to play against Chelsea in the semi-final of the FA Cup at Wembley, as well as the subsequent Premier League fixtures involving West Ham, Manchester United, and of course, the final North London derby at White Hart Lane.

Kane has scored 19 times in just 22 top flight games this season, so having him back available will undoubtedly boost their chances of finishing the campaign in second place and perhaps even concluding the year with silverware from the competition that Kane was playing in when he sustained the injury in the first place.

In the meantime, Pochettino will be hoping that the likes of Son Heung-Min and Vincent Janssen can shoulder the goalscoring burden against the likes of Burnley, Swansea and Watford before the Cherries visit.
