Sam Allardyce is targeting signings in two positions after agreeing to a new Sunderland contract which will see him take full control of transfers and provide the 61-year-old with additional funds to spend, the Sun reports.
Allardyce is said to have signed a deal worth £80,000-a-week in October, but will reportedly commit to an improved contract having secured the Mackems’ Premier League status.
It is claimed the assurance of Sunderland chairman Ellis Short that Allardyce will head the club’s summer recruitment drive, despite the imminent arrival of Martin Bain as chief executive, is key to the new agreement.

And with extra funds to spend, the former West Ham United boss is reportedly seeking a new midfielder and centre-back to kick off the Black Cats’ spending spree.
As reported by the Sunderland Echo this week, Allardyce was in line to receive around £30 million for signings, and the same publication claimed on Thursday that at least half of that is required to land Andre Ayew from Swansea City.

Midfielder Ayew, who can play on the left, through the middle or up front, is said to be the Wearsiders’ top summer target, having failed with a move in January.
One centre-back linked with a move to the Stadium of Light this week is Aden Flint of Championship outfit Bristol City.
