Glasgow Rangers have announced that Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones have penned pre-contract deals at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard’s side kicked off their January plans by announcing that the pair had both agreed pre-contract deals with Rangers ahead of the summer as their terms with their current clubs enter into their final few months.
It may surprise some that Rangers are not planning to target Jones and Kamara for this month when the Gers appear to have put themselves right in the title picture in the Scottish Premiership.
The deal is made particularly intriguing because Jones’ Kilmarnock side are just one point behind the Old Firm pair at this point, so it would be foolish to assume that Steve Clarke’s men will not have a major say on where the title goes this term.

With Killie and Dundee both gearing up for a fight at the respective ends of the table, it is probably not a huge surprise that Rangers are not as keen to bring the two summer signings in prematurely.

While both of their divisional rivals may be tempted to sell this month so they do not lose their player for free in the summer, they will also be aware that Kilmarnock’s title bid will suffer a setback if they lose Jones this month, while Dundee’s hopes of staying up will be dented if Kamara leaves, so those asking prices may go up.
And it appears that Gerrard may have decided that leaving Jones and Kamara where they are may be more beneficial in the long-run than if Rangers potentially pay over the odds to sign players that are scheduled to be heading to Ibrox for nothing in a few months anyway.
