A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Tottenham may have to pay £18 million if they hope to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Matthias Ginter this summer.

The Mail reports that Ginter is on Spurs’ radar and the club have made an enquiry for the 23-year-old having previously maintained an interest in trying to sign Burnley ace Michael Keane – who now looks to be Everton-bound.

And it appears that they now know what they need to spend if they hope to bring the Dortmund man in during the coming months, with the Mail suggesting that Ginter – who has two years left on his contract – will cost £18 million.

Given Ginter’s current ability and potential, it would hardly be a surprise if Tottenham fans were urging Daniel Levy to make a deal happen as it is arguably an area of the pitch where the team needs to bolster their ranks.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have been superb in recent times, while the likes of Eric Dier and Kevin Wimmer are also capable of playing at the heart of the defence.

But with the side looking to battle on several fronts next term, and perhaps planning to adopt a system that involves using three centre-backs, signing Ginter would surely be an excellent move from the club.
