Leeds United boss Garry Monk has been attracting Middlesbrough’s attention as they begin preparations for a campaign in the Championship.

A report in the Yorkshire Evening Post has suggested that Garry Monk still plans to hold talks with Andrea Radrizzani about his future at Leeds before he considers other options.

The Sun recently suggested that Middlesbrough had made Monk their number one target as they begin their preparations for life in the Championship following their relegation.

And while Monk is currently heading for the final weeks of his deal at Elland Road, the Yorkshire Evening Post suggests that there may not be too much for Leeds fans to worry about at the moment with the former Swansea boss still committed to holding talks with Radrizzani once his takeover of the club is complete before he thinks about giving any other offers any consideration.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that the Italian has made Monk’s future his priority for when he completes his full takeover of the Whites and is willing to offer him a long-term deal, which – if Monk receives certain assurances regarding structure and budget – could well be agreed.

And it may perhaps not be too long before a resolution to the situation is reached with the Yorkshire Evening Post adding that Radrizzani’s takeover could potentially be finalised by the start of June.

While most Leeds fans would probably take just keeping Monk in the dugout no matter when that announcement comes, it should certainly be better if the speculation is put to bed as early as possible.

Getting Monk quickly tied down when there are a couple of attractive options on the table – Norwich have also been impressed by the Leeds boss (via Yorkshire Evening Post) – will send out a major statement ahead of what could be a crucial summer for Leeds.
