Glasgow Rangers are currently looking for a new manager following Mark Warburton’s departure from Ibrox.
A report in The Scottish Sun has suggested that a number of Rangers players contacted Mark Warburton following news of his departure from Ibrox and expressed their support for their former boss.
Warburton is no longer in charge of the Scottish Premiership side following an incredible turn of events which saw the club announce on their official website that he had resigned, while Warburton insists that that has not been the case (via The Scottish Sun).

And it appears that most of the players would have been disappointed to hear about the manager’s departure, as The Scottish Sun reports that those who reached out to Warburton were sad to see him go and expressed their sympathy.
Those supporters who were critical of the former Gers boss during the latter stages of his Ibrox tenure will point out that it is hardly a surprise that the majority of the squad have responded in the way that they reportedly have.

Warburton has overseen the arrival of over 30 players in just over 18 months at Rangers, so it would come as little shock that most of the players within the current squad were signings made during his time as boss, and thus, it is perhaps the same loyalty to him that tempted them to sign in the first place that is now encouraging them to reach out following his departure.

However, it must not be forgotten that there were some high points during his time in charge, including promotion back to the top flight as well as the Scottish Cup semi-final victory over Celtic. And a number of players will surely suggest that Warburton was a key reason for that success last season.
