Queens Park Rangers were linked with the Danish striker, who later signed for Nottingham Forest instead.

A report in Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet has revealed the bizarre reason behind Queens Park Rangers’ failure to sign Nicklas Bendtner before his move to Nottingham Forest.
QPR were one of a number of English sides linked with a move for Bendtner, who spent the entire summer as a free agent following his release by Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in April.

However, according to Ekstra Bladet, the R’s quickly dropped their interest, having been informed that Bendtner was on a night out in Copenhagen – thus exacerbating the striker’s party boy reputation.
In reality, Bendtner is said to have been in London – drinking nothing stronger than water, apparently – and remained without a club beyond August’s transfer deadline, by which point QPR had acquired Anderlecht’s Idrissa Sylla instead.

But with the transferring of free agents still permitted – providing the player in question was released from his contract before 1 September – the 28-year-old eventually signed for Nottingham Forest.
At the time of writing, the former Arsenal prospect has played six times for Forest – finding the net in last month’s draw against Fulham – but is yet to taste victory in Red.
