Liverpool supporters are absolutely loving Luis Diaz right now.

And rightly so.

The Colombia international was one of Liverpool’s best players on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Chelsea to win the Carabao Cup.

Prior to that, Diaz, a £49 million signing in January, only had a handful of experiences in English football.

So the fact that he looked so comfortable at Wembley, flicking the ball over Reece James as if he was a Premier League veteran, well it speaks volumes for how well he is adapting to life on Merseyside.

But did Diaz’s arrival from Porto cost a Liverpool youngster his potential debut in January?

According to a report from the North East, possibly.

The Chronicle reported this afternoon that Bobby Clark was set to make Klopp’s bench for an FA Cup affair against Cardiff City.

However, the report – written by Lee Ryder, a prominent Newcastle United journalist – added that the 25-year-old’s arrival scuppered Clark’s chances of making the squad.

The 17-year-old signed professional terms with the Anfield outfit in February, after joining from the Magpies’ academy last summer.

The good news is that The Chronicle illustrates that Klopp is a big fan of the player and although his debut didn’t come against Cardiff, due to Diaz’s signing, he’s in the German manager’s thinking at the very least.

And given that he’s only 17, well that’s extremely promising indeed.
