Report details why Manchester United’s squad is questioning ex-Tottenham man Kieran McKenna in his new role

Kieran McKenna previously worked for Tottenham Hotspur’s younger age groups before moving to the now-goal shy Manchester United in 2016.

Three years after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, former U18’s coach, Kieran McKenna is now being questioned by senior members of Manchester United’s squad, according to a report.

The Metro report that McKenna, who was poached by United from Spurs in 2016, has left members of Manchester United’s squad ‘unconvinced’ by his training sessions.

It is said that ex-Spurs man McKenna, 33, who initially worked with United’s U18’s before being promoted to Jose Mourinho’s backroom setup, has been put in charge of training sessions ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment.

The report also details how Solskjaer thought McKenna could be that bridge between the youngsters that are being used for the first-team, and whilst that is going well, the more senior members of the squad are questioning his experience and feel that they are not being prepared properly for matches from an attacking sense.

At this moment in time, the 20-time English League champions are sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table after eight matches, and having scored only nine league goals – they have netted twice in their previous five matches, and needed extra-time to beat League One side Rochdale in the EFL Cup.

Tottenham don’t take on United until early December when they visit Old Trafford for a Tuesday night game, but if United’s poor form continues then it wouldn’t be a surprise if there is a whole new backroom staff for that encounter.

Nonetheless, whilst McKenna has received plaudits for his ability to work wonders with youngsters at both Tottenham, and now Manchester United, it seems as though he is becoming part of the problem at the declining Old Trafford club.

This current United side is being dubbed as one of the worst in recent decades, and unfortunately for McKenna, it seems as though his reputation, along with many others, is now taking a bit of a beating.

Either way, whilst things aren’t rosy in United’s garden, McKenna’s former club, Spurs are also struggling off and on the pitch, as they have produced a number of shocking performances in recent months.
