West Bromwich Albion are reportedly closing in on a deal for Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor.
West Brom manager Tony Pulis
A report in the Express and Star has suggested that West Brom plan to switch their attention to signing a new striker and centre-back once they have finalised a deal to sign Leeds defender Charlie Taylor.
The Express and Star reports that the Baggies have just a few more details to confirm with the Whites left-back before they agree a pre-contract agreement – though they will still need to pay the Championship side compensation for the academy graduate.
And it appears – perhaps inspired by how quiet West Brom were for much of the last summer window – that Tony Pulis is determined to get some more deals done quickly as the Express and Star suggests that he is already planning his next move in the window.
The Express and Star suggests that the Baggies plan to get a new goalscorer – with Watford talisman Troy Deeney proving to be their top target in that department – and a new centre-back.

As mentioned, it appears that Pulis is planning to get as much business done as possible early on. The side made a lacklustre start to the season, and that may well be partially down to the fact that the likes of Nacer Chadli and Allan Nyom were only signed during the final days of the summer.
By getting a number of players in early, Pulis will be hoping that the squad can gel with plenty of time to spare before the new campaign begins, leaving them with a much better chance of building on what has threatened to be an incredibly promising season.
