Aston Villa face a long trip up north ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Sunderland.

Steve Bruce manager of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Birmingham City at Villa Park on February 11, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

The Express and Star have reported that Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is set to welcome back speed machine winger Albert Adomah ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Sunderland.

The Villans travel north to the Stadium of Light to face struggling Sunderland, who remain rock bottom of the Championship table and four points adrift of 21st-placed Barnsley.

Adomah, 30, has been sidelined since the 2-0 win over rivals Birmingham City, but is now fit to return to the side against Sunderland. Playmaker Jack Grealish could also return, after overcoming a calf injury.

The in-form playmaker has also been ruled out since the win over the Blues, but returned to training last week and could feature against Chris Coleman’s side in what will be deemed as a must-win game in the promotion run in.

However, versatile defender Alan Hutton will miss the trip to Wearside after picking up an injury in the 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday last time out. He was replaced by Neil Taylor in the 51st minute, a change likely to happen from the off against Sunderland.

With four points separating Villa from second-placed Cardiff City, avoiding a slip up against the Black Cats is crucial and the return of top scorer Adomah and playmaker Grealish will be music to Bruce’s ears.
