Barry Douglas is seemingly happy at Leeds United despite interest from Celtic, according to a report.
Leeds Live have claimed that it looks increasingly unlikely that Marcelo Bielsa’s core group – which includes Douglas – will move on this summer, as the Scotsman remains a ‘key member’ of the Elland Road dressing room.
It is said that Celtic’s interest in the left-back should be taken as a pinch of salt because there is not too much to it other than interest.
Douglas’ game time under Bielsa increased during the back end of their Championship-winning campaign, with Ezgjan Alioski being the main man who has been deployed in that left-sided fullback role.
Even though Douglas will feel he still is yet to cement his place in this Leeds side, he will still be an important player going into the Premier League because squad depth is needed.
It would have been interesting if Douglas did move to Parkhead because he is a boyhood Rangers fan, but that’s something that seemingly won’t happen now.
Leeds United’s first six fixtures of 2020/21

- Sheffield United (A)
September 26
- Manchester City (H)

- Aston Villa (A)

Whilst Leeds fans haven’t seen as much of Douglas as they would have wanted on the field of play, there is no denying the type of impact he can have on the rest of the squad in the dressing room.
Not only that, but this is also his opportunity to now showcase his talents on the big stage because when he earned promotion with Wolves a number of seasons ago, it wasn’t too long before he switched back down to the second-tier.
