According to a report in FootMercato, UAE side Al Ain want to loan West Ham United owned winger Felipe Anderson.
The Brazilian is of course currently out on loan at Porto, but lacklustre performances and a lack of game time have led to rumours about his time in Portugal being cut short.
This has garnered interest from the Middle East, and with ludicrous amounts of money often being spent by UAE clubs on this type of player, one would imagine that West Ham would get a decent loan fee from Al Ain.
However, that is not the case.
Al Ain want to loan Anderson for free, without an option to buy, which as you can imagine, hasn’t gone down all that well with the Hammers.
Indeed, West Ham would reportedly rather receive a fee from Al Ain if they want to loan Anderson, which would make a lot more sense.
The report concludes by saying negotiations are still ongoing between the two clubs, so we can only hope that the Hammers get a financial package that works for them.
Whether or not Al Ain are willing to pay anything to loan Anderson remains to be seen, but the fact that he’s being linked with a move to the Middle East just shows how far his stock has fallen since joining West Ham for an initial £33.5m.
