Italian outlet CM has explained how Adama Traore could help Tottenham sign Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma this month – with Jose Mourinho keen to bring in a replacement for the Italy star. Traore is eyed as a potential replacement at Roma.

Zaniolo, 23, has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Roma. Contract talks between Zaniolo and Roma have broken down and the ace is now on the transfer list at Mourinho’s side. Tottenham are said to be very keen on him.

Indeed, Rudy Galetti even claims that Tottenham have agreed terms with Zaniolo. But 90Min say Spurs wanted him on loan and would only include an obligation if Spurs finished in the top four. Roma want a permanent sale for Zaniolo.

Roma will obviously want to replace a player that had a hand in 17 goals last season. CM claim that one of Roma’s options to replace Zaniolo is long-term Tottenham target Traore, from Wolves. He is out of contract in the summer.

Whether Tottenham are still interested in Zaniolo remains to be seen, with Spurs said to be closing in on a loan deal to sign Netherlands international Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal. But with Lucas Moura set to go, Zaniolo is still needed.

Bryan Gil, too. The Spaniard could easily go on loan. Zaniolo offers something different to Spurs, in that he can play anywhere in the final third. A striker, a no.10 or on either flank. He gives Antonio Conte something a bit different.

Tottenham’s links to Traore continue to resurface every now and then. But, the chances of the Wolves star signing for Spurs this month seem unlikely. Indeed, he could now end up at Roma and that may hand Spurs a boost for Zaniolo.
