Arsenal are not far from the Premier League’s summit, but look set for a quiet January.
The Telegraph has suggested that Arsenal currently have no plans in place to strengthen their first-team squad during the January transfer window.
Following the Gunners’ emphatic win over West Ham at the weekend, Arsene Wenger’s men sit second in the Premier League, three points adrift of current leaders Chelsea.

But despite their promising current position, the Telegraph has suggested that they do not intend to make any additions next month unless they are hit by a significant number of injuries, and are instead prioritising signing a new left-back in the summer.
Although the January window can be a difficult time to do business, the Telegraph’s report will surely frustrate a number of Arsenal fans.
Last season, the side went into the New Year sat at the top of the table, level on points with Leicester City. However, when the curtain came down on the campaign, the Foxes sat 10 points clear of Wenger’s men after they endured a somewhat inconsistent end to the season.

While Mohamed Elneny has proved to be a decent acquisition, it would be hardly be a surprise if the fact that he was their only signing during January was deemed by many as the reason for their inability to kick on.
And if history repeats itself once again this year, then Wenger will surely have plenty of explaining to do as to why they did not do more during the transfer window.
