Portuguese outlet Record claim Luis Diaz is not interested in a move to Tottenham and is holding out for a bigger club in Champions League football. Reports emerged on Tuesday that Spurs had made an offer.
Diaz, 25, is considered one of the Portuguese division’s best players as he continues his fantastic goalscoring rate from out wide – netting 16 in 28 this season. The Colombia international has also laid on six assists.
SIC Noticias reported on Tuesday – as then followed by many other outlets – that Spurs had tabled a £37million offer that could rise to £46million. But that has since been rejected, and now, Diaz’s stance has been made known.
Indeed, the report from the Record claims that Diaz is not fussed by a move to North London and to work under Antonio Conte. Instead, Diaz is waiting for a bigger club challenging for titles – with Spurs ‘not tempting enough’.
Diaz stance on Tottenham: Blow for Spurs, but move was always unlikely
Diaz is shining in the Champions League and without even the Conference League to offer players coming in, Spurs were always going to struggle to convince Diaz. He is a player that deserves to playing with the best.
It means that even if Tottenham and Fabio Paratici could agree a fee to land the Colombia ace, the player himself would simply reject a move. It is good to see ambition from Spurs, but a move was always going to be unlikely.
